Color Management in Graphic Applications Software - Session 2: Color Management in InDesign

Color Management in Graphic Applications Software - Session 2: Color Management in InDesign

Recorded January 24, 2006

CURRICULUM OVERVIEW - Color Management in Graphic Applications Software

Color Management (CM) is often a confusing and intricate topic. It's important for designers and prepress personnel who use the Adobe Suite, Quark and Acrobat applications to understand the nuances of each software system. This unique webinar curriculum discusses CM in the context of these applications to assure customers and clients receive accurate and consistent color for their output files and print.

This Program

In this second webinar of the 4-part "Color Management in Graphic Applications Software" curriculum, we'll build on the first Photoshop session by delving into how InDesign color management differs from Photoshop.

We'll enter the more complex world of color management in a page layout application that contains a plethora of multiple images and objects, each one of which that could have its own different source profile.

We'll go through InDesign's color management features to learn how the application really works - not merely what buttons to push - in order to understand the level of functionality we desire.

We'll also gain an understanding as to what are "early binding", "late binding" and "hybrid" workflows...and what are the advantages and tradeoffs of each?

Lastly, we'll review how to proof and print fully color managed documents to ensure safe file handoffs to color management savvy people?

EXTRA BONUS SESSION - Illustrator

Immediately after the InDesign session, for those who want to hang around we'll have a 10 minute bonus session to discuss color management features unique to Adobe Illustrator. Key points will include the place object, and save document behaviors, as well as dealing with Pantone colors. Pretty simple, but important to know...all in 10 minutes !
