Dan Gillespie is the founder and owner of ColorGeek, Inc., a color consulting company located in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, where Dan has lived for almost 20 years. Established in 1999, ColorGeek provides high-end technical guidance and installations of color-related products for the graphic arts and printing industries. ColorGeek has trained in excess of 500 companies all over the country in color correction, digital proofing, color management, and related digital reproduction workflows.
Dan became involved with digital color in the late 1980s while working as a scanner operator and production artist at a local newspaper. In 1994, Dan accepted a position with a national graphic arts reseller as an application/color specialist and technical trainer. During his tenure there, he created curriculums for new training courses, evaluated products, developed vendor relations, and performed approximately 250 installations and trainings nationwide on color-related products.
Having this extensive experience to guide him, Dan was ready to start his own business - one that would be vital in the new era of digital printing. "With computer to plate (CTP) now a reality, it was evident to me that everyone moving to CTP would likewise be moving to digital proofing and for that you need color management," comments Dan on his philosophy behind ColorGeek. Since this realization, Dan has worked tirelessly to develop ColorGeek,Inc. and ColorGeek.com, and after just six years, has launched his company to one of the industry's most trusted and highly regarded color consultanting firms. ColorGeek boasts a client list that reads like a who's who of the printing and publishing industries. Providing their digital proofing systems and color management workflows with over 250 installs of EFI ColorProof RIP software alone, Dan makes it okay to be a "Geek".
